Hi, my name is Dan. :)
ZeraWeb used to be my consulting company and this site was my home for little R & D projects I undertook from time to time. Now that I work for YellowPages.com in their R & D group, it is transitioning a bit.
I can now focus purely on my work rather than using this site as a platform to advertise my technical skills. (In fact, I am now the one looking to hire.) So I’ve gotten rid of all the consulting and training related stuff. All that remains is the blog and links to things like my GitHub page.
At YPC SRD (the ‘S’ is for “Strategery,” I think), we’re doing a lot of really interesting things. Not all of the following are officially YPC SRD projects (yet) but they are all things I am or was actively involved in and hope to be in the future.
- Waves, a “Ruby-first” framework for building Web-apps.
- Autocode, a Ruby-based class loader that does true code reloading.
- Functor, a recent addition for doing FP-style dispatch in Ruby.
- DateJS, a JavaScript Date library. Try out the cool parser!
- Cruiser, a JavaScript providing a CSS-like way to specify behaviors.
A number of other cool projects are either incubating or well underway at this point. However, I’ve never been one to spill the beans before I’ve gotten drunk. What? No, that’s not it. Kiss and tell? A stitch in time? Something like that. Basically, you’ll have to keep an eye on my blog (or subscribe to the feed) to find out.
(I will say this: there is a really good reason why I haven’t been active on the Cruiser Google Code site. Here’s a hint.)
As a bit of background, I live in Santa Monica, California, a short bike-ride from the beach. My hobbies are music production and basketball. I am determined to learn to surf one of these days. I have a beautiful step-daughter named Maia, age 11, who will quite possibly grow up to be a better programmer than I am. Or an awesome cartoonist. Or both. :)
